Published in 1939 by Desclee, here is the official Latin text of the Carmelite Rite of the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please note that this is not the Carmelite Rite used by the Discalced Carmelites of St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila, but the older, Medieval Rite that was denied to them at the time of their reform of the Carmelite Order. This text's arrangement of the Psalms differs from that found in the well-known Roman Rite Little Office. The Latin text of the Hymns is that which existed before Pope Urban VIII revised the Hymns in the Roman Breviary. The doxology of the Hymns varies according the Seasons, which a feature not found in the Roman Rite Little Office. The antiphon "Salve Regina" is not to be found in this text, and its place there is an antiphon (with its versicle, response and collect) that is proper to the Carmelite Breviary.
